Our Pediatric Respiratory Therapy Residency Program is a 12-month program for new graduate respiratory therapists as they transition from school into their professional career. The program goes beyond a typical orientation and includes System-level and specialty-specific classes, simulations and hands-on training at the bedside with the latest respiratory care equipment. Our goal is to help you enhance your skills, increase your confidence and put you on track to achieve your career goals.

We offer two respiratory residency cohorts throughout the year. Our cohort sizes vary and are based on the needs of our three hospitals.
  • May graduates typically begin in the summer.
  • December graduates start in the spring.
We offer multiple start dates for each cohort and stagger them to accommodate graduation dates.

Eligible applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as the application for each cohort opens. Positions are limited, so the earlier you apply, the better.

Yes, respiratory resident positions are paid positions.

Yes. Respiratory therapy resident positions are full-time positions (36 hours per week).

Yes, you must obtain a current license in the state of Georgia as a Respiratory Care Professional (RCP) through the Georgia Composite Medical Board. License numbers must be submitted before your start date.

To be eligible for the Respiratory Therapy Residency Program, you should:
  • Have completed an accredited respiratory care program.
  • Be a graduate respiratory therapist with no prior experience or <1 year of current respiratory therapy experience.
  • Have a current license in the state of Georgia as a Respiratory Care Professional (RCP) through the Georgia Composite Medical Board.
  • Hold your RRT and CRT certifications.

Only respiratory therapists with less than one year of respiratory therapy experience, whether with adults or in pediatrics, can participate in our residency program.
