Transportation Associate

Provides safe transport of patients, visitors, laboratory specimens, documents, laboratory materials (Lab Services only), and employees within the community, including Children's Healthcare of Atlanta locations and community physician practices. Proactively supports efforts that ensures delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.


  • High school diploma or equivalent


  • Valid Georgia driver’s license


  • 2 years of experience in public relations or customer service


  • Commercial driver's license


  • Ability to apply sound judgment and confidentiality in handling patient health information
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and follow written and oral instructions

  1. Operates/drives Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta vehicles in a safe and customer-friendly manner.
  2. Carries out responsibilities of the position as outlined by Security or Parking and Transportation Coordinators.
  3. Documents activities for department records.
  4. Demonstrates knowledge of current policies, procedures, and Department of Transportation regulations.
  5. Reports any unusual events to security control center or Security Supervisor.
  6. Remains up-to-date on current security, transportation, and professional issues through reading and self-study.
  7. Ensures cleanliness, maintenance, and organization of assigned vehicles.
  8. Conducts scheduled safety inspections.
  9. Provides excellent service routinely in interactions with all customers, including coworkers, patients, visitors, physicians, and volunteers.
  10. Maintains professional appearance.
  11. Assists patients, visitors, and staff with transportation needs.
  12. Ensures valet parking for board members, VIPs, patients, and others as needed and directed.
  13. Provides directions and assistance to visitors.
  14. Assists motorists with vehicle trouble.


Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.


Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
