JOB SUMMARY

The Strategy Project Director is responsible for leading strategic plan development for assigned client groups or initiatives. This leader identifies and analyzes external trends, headwinds and macro-level threats. They use this information to identify potential vulnerabilities and opportunities for new strategies.

 

The Strategy Project Director consults with operational leaders, Financial Planning, Facilities, and Marketing by providing strategic recommendations, and also coordinates performance monitoring.This position reports to the Vice President of Strategy and Financial Planning. It offers a tremendous opportunity to drive clinical care strategies that positively impact thousands of patients and their families across Georgia.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*
  1. Leads coordination of and collaborates with operational leaders, Financial Planning, Facilities, and Marketing to address strategic business questions related to ideation through approval of a strategy or business case.
  2. Leverages competitive intelligence, patient demand, and consumer research provided by strategy planning function.
  3. Works collaboratively with operational leaders to develop strategies to grow business.
  4. Produces strategic plans that detail business problems, industry and market drivers and assumptions, vision, interdependencies, and linkage to overall strategy for executive review and to aid decision-making.
  5. Delivers business cases that detail business problems, industry and market drivers and assumptions, feasibility, Pro Forma, and market analysis for executive review and to aid decision-making.
  6. Utilizes consistent and standard process to develop plans from initiation through approval.
  7. Uses project management tools to document progress made with strategic planning and initiatives.
  8. Coaches operational leaders (e.g., Centers, Service Leaders, Senior Vice Presidents, and Chiefs) about process, data analysis, and system strategy to support development of their strategic plans and business cases.
  9. Coordinates within team and across organization to ensure projects and strategies are threaded.
  10. Provides ongoing strategic consultative support to client groups.
  11. Serves as Project Manager on large, complex strategy initiatives.
EXPERIENCE*
  • At least eight years of experience in a corporate strategy function or strategy consulting firm.
EDUCATION
  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES*
  • Understanding of emerging healthcare issues, health system models, and trends.
  • Must be able to interpret data into actionable insights that influence business decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, complex responsibilities, perform market and business analysis, strategic planning and program management with documented outcomes.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications; strong business acumen; interpersonal skills and strong collaborative nature; team player; consensus builder; and persuasive presenter.
  • History of building and fostering trusting, sustainable relationships, both internally and externally. Able to collaborate and partner with other subject matter experts and departmental leaders.
  • Active listener. Seek to understand the point of view and needs of stakeholders and executives.
  • Strong negotiation skills. Able to develop win/win solutions for Children’s and external partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to be influential. Ability to balance emotional intelligence and business insights when communicating with stakeholders. Possess the depth of experience to know when to persuade vs. negotiate.
  • High level of service orientation—responsive to the needs of key stakeholders. Able to function in dynamic environment subject to impromptu changes in schedules, priorities, and project scope.
  • Strong track record of developing and engaging a team. Demonstrated ability to build trust, mentor, conduct regular check-ins, use situational leadership, etc. Approachable and enthusiastic leader who is accessible and visible to the team on a regular basis.
  • Self-motivated and directed individual who pays attention to the details and doesn’t cut corners. Ability to multi-task and prioritize activities in a high energy setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate activities and work autonomously, yet collaborative and resourceful.
  • Proven good judgment and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
  • An individual of the highest integrity with high levels of energy, maturity, and humbleness.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS*
  • Master's degree in Business Administration.
  • Experience working in a healthcare setting.
