JOB SUMMARY

To plan, implement and evaluate the provision of high quality medical care, with appropriate resource management, to children and adolescents at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta .

EDUCATION

  • Graduate of an accredited, four-year medical school.
  • Graduate of an accredited, post-graduate  five year residency program in Orthopedics
  • Completion of one to two year fellowship program in a particular Orthopedic subspecialty area such as:  Hand surgery, Foot surgery, Shoulder and elbow surgery, Arthroplasty, Pediatric orthopedics, Spine surgery, Musculoskeletal oncology, Orthopedic trauma
  • Meets eligibility requirements for credentialing as part of the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Professional Staff.

CERTIFICATION SUMMARY

  • Board certified and licensed to practice medicine in the state of Georgia
  • Current Drug Enforcement Admin (DEA) registration
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Ped Advcd Life Support (PALS) certification

EXPERIENCE*

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical specialty
  • Administrative or leadership experience

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*

  1. Provides patient care at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, which complies with the Professional Staff Bylaws, rules and regulations and Children’s policies and procedures.
  2. Participates in and incorporates Quality Improvement and research findings into practice.
  3. Provides and/or serves as a resource for patient/family and staff education.
  4. Provides an authenticated report of all physician services rendered and maintains accurate and complete records in an acceptable manner.
  5. Completes necessary documentation and ensures communication to facilitate patent care and appropriate reimbursement.
  6. Participates in meetings/activities as required to support operations of the clinical area.
  7. Participates in activities that enhance professional development, complete and maintain certification in BLS and maintains any additional specialty training/certifications as required by the area assigned.
  8. Performs other responsibilities as required.

SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES*

Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.

Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
