JOB SUMMARY

Provides leadership and supervision for sports program athletic trainers and community outreach program. Manages assigned operations, including personnel selection, operations, scheduling coverage for multiple high school and club sports, performance improvement, injury data base management, service satisfaction, fiscal accountability, contracting with schools and club sports, marketing and education for community providers and organizations, and working closely with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta sports medicine physicians, urgent care, emergency, and other departments. Proactively supports efforts that ensure safe delivery of care for children participating in sports and promote a safe environment at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Management, Health Administration, Sports Medicine (Athletic Training), or Physical or Occupational Therapy

CERTIFICATION SUMMARY

  •  Georgia Athletic Training license required

EXPERIENCE*

  • 5 years of clinical experience in nursing, management, health administration, sports medicine, or physical or occupational therapy
  • 2 years of experience in management/leadership/sales

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS*

  • Master of Business Administration

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*

  1. Prepares budget and monitors budget performance through ongoing assessment of revenue, scheduling, staffing, supplies and equipment, and marketing.
  2. Coordinates and monitors daily operations, scheduling of athletic training coverage for all schools, club sports, tournaments and venues.
  3. Manages new and annual contract renewals in collaboration with legal services, administration, and marketing.
  4. Provides oversight and development of school internship program and maintenance of injury tracker database.
  5. Ensures high-quality patient care and customer satisfaction through engagement of key stakeholders, e.g., sports physicians, leaders, staff, emergency, urgent care, transfer center, community and physician liaisons, marketing, and public relations.
  6. Supports performance improvement process.
  7. Provides leadership and participates in development of community and provider relationships and education.
  8. Identifies strategic opportunities for program growth and improved quality of care through knowledge of external markets and professional association participation.
  9. Leads program development initiatives in sports medicine, e.g., sports concussions, wrestling weight management, injury prevention, outcomes reporting, and others identified by leadership, physician, or staff.           
  10. Participates in maintaining and monitoring the work environment to ensure a continual state of Joint Commission readiness.
  11. Responsible for all aspects of managing and leading a team including: interviewing, hiring, training, developing, directing work and processes, managing performance, recognizing, and rewarding employees.
  12. Mentor team members to encourage personal and professional growth.
  13. Encourage ongoing skill development by providing opportunities for continued education.

SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES*

Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.

 

Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
