Outpatient Social Work Manager

Facilitates and manages the day-to-day operations of the Social Work, Child Life, Chaplaincy/Clinical Pastoral Education, School, and Interpreting and Translation Services programs at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, including fiscal and human resources processes. Ensures that comprehensive patient care services are provided that support the integrity of the family system and patient care team. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.


  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and license and/or degree in a clinical discipline


  • License and/or degree in a clinical discipline


  • 2 years of experience in management/administration in a healthcare setting


  • Bachelor of Science in Business and/or health service field related to relevant service
  • Master’s degree in clinical field
  • License and/or degree in a clinical discipline related to a relevant service


  • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Must have a team partnership orientation and be able to resolve conflicts
  • Ability to listen well and problem-solve

  • Physician relations capabilities
  • Must be able to successfully pass the Basic Windows Skill Assessment at 80% or higher rating within 30 days of employment

  1. Manages the daily operations of Social Work, Child Life, Chaplaincy/Clinical Pastoral Education, School, or Interpreting/Translation Services.
  2. Manages the budget preparations and monthly analysis of budget performance for program/department.
  3. Demonstrates fiscal accountability and participates in the achievement of department financial goals.
  4. Manages quality improvement and patient safety processes for the program/department.
  5. Oversees the educational program associated with the program/department as indicated.
  6. Collaborates with medical staff and all levels of hospital personnel to assure high quality of care.
  7. Manages the ongoing process of healthcare delivery to patients and parents, incorporating age-related and developmental-specific requirements.
  8. Promotes autonomy and accountability by fostering an environment for staff to collaborate in effective problem-solving at the unit level.
  9. Responsible for all aspects of managing and leading a team including: interviewing, hiring, training, developing, directing work and processes, managing performance, recognizing, and rewarding employees.
  10. Mentor team members to encourage personal and professional growth.
  11. Encourage ongoing skill development by providing opportunities for continued education.


Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.


Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
