Social Work Manager

JOB SUMMARY

Facilitates and manages the day to day operations for the Social Work team including oversight and supervision of team members. Partners with Director, Social Work to plan strategically social work program at Children’s and implement plans to success. Effectively manages ongoing department operations including quality, patient experience, financial and human resource components. Proactively supports delivery of safe patient care and services by promoting a safe environment at Children’s. 

EDUCATION

  • Master’s Degree of Social Work from an accredited graduate school

CERTIFICATION SUMMARY

  • Licensure as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Georgia

EXPERIENCE*

  • Minimum 2 years of management or leadership experience in a healthcare setting 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS*

  • Experience in the pediatric healthcare setting with the inpatient, medical and/or emergency departments patient population 
  • Experience with care for the behavioral and mental health population 

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES*

  • Ability to effectively resolve conflict and lead teams through change 
  • Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability for effective problem solving 
  • Comfort with ambiguity and skilled in change management 
  • Works collaboratively with partners and stakeholders across care settings and disciplines 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*

  1. Accountable for daily clinical operations of social work team and team members. 
    a. Ensures adequate staffing to support clinical and business functions with developed staffing model
    b. Responsible for hiring process with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding and managing vacancies.
  2. Leads, supports and builds team members through effective team building, open communication, and transparent dialogue to engage and retain team members
  3. Holds team accountable with timely performance feedback, coaching and feedback. 
  4. Fosters professional development of team and self with support of continuing education
  5. Demonstrates sound financial planning with monthly budget analysis and compliance to guidelines
  6. Proactively rounds and initiates face-to-face time with direct reports to identify and resolve concerns
  7. Establishes and maintains effective collaborative working relationships with clinical leaders and providers related to social work care. 
  8. Provides oversight for development of evidence-based clinical practice standards and operating procedures. 
  9. Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements including state and federal guidelines 
  10. Engages team to develop and execute implementation plans for department or system changes/projects. 

SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES*

Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system. 
 

Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
