Small Projects - Project Manager - Construction Management

Manages small projects generated through Children’s “portal” request process, frequently associated with improvement to existing space. Establishes budget, secures vendors, issues contracts and purchase orders, schedules work to be performed, coordinating with requestor/end user, pays invoices, and completes project close-out.


  • Bachelor’s degree in construction, design, project management, or related field, or a combination of education and experience


  • No professional certifications required


  • Minimum two years of experience in hospital or health care facilities construction, project management, or related field


  • Experience in the healthcare design and construction industry
  • Knowledge of building codes, safety codes, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration/Joint Commission regulations 


  • Demonstrated leadership skills in facilitating and leading cross-functional teams

  1. Creates, manages, and executes project scope, schedule, resources, and change management initiatives.
  2. Communicates and documents project plan, status updates, business goals, and governance plan to team and stakeholders.
  3. Identifies and manages project risks, issues, and opportunities proactively.
  4. Collaborates with specialists both inside and outside of the organization on assigned tasks to deliver subject matter expert activities.
  5. Ensures project deliverables are on time, high quality, and on budget.
  6. Ensures project close-out is completed within 90 days of project end date.
  7. Provides final floor plan documents to Space and Occupancy and Real Estate teams.
  8. Develops, cultivates, and maintains a customer service philosophy incorporating the mission, vision, and values of Children’s family-centered care.
  9. Is responsible for developing, negotiating, executing, administering, and archiving all contracts, contract documents, specifications, and legal agreements.
  10. Ensures compliance with all OSHA and JCAHO and other regulatory and code requirements.
  11. Incorporates lean principles in all new construction and/or renovation projects prior to the design phase.


Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.


Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
