Senior Prospect Research Analyst

JOB SUMMARY

Gathers, analyzes, and distributes timely, accurate, and useful information to members of the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta development community to support effective cultivation and solicitation of top prospects. Works proactively to increase and qualify the prospect pool and bring new leads to the attention of gift officers. Manages own workload, advises development officers on prospect strategy, and manages/updates the status and coding for portfolios and proposals in the Foundation’s Raiser’s Edge database.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*

  1. Meets the prospect identification and research needs of specifically assigned relationship managers/program areas in order to assist in meeting fundraising goals.
  2. Facilitates regular meetings, keeping abreast of activities and current programs, and participates in prospect strategizing.
  3. Conducts both proactive and reactive research using a variety of resources, including online services/databases, industry standard business and biographical directories, periodicals, electronic screening software, and other published materials.
  4. Estimates donor gift capacity and propensity through the analysis of individual, corporate, and foundation financial and philanthropic information, paying particular attention to the analysis of income statements, common forms of securities, other wealth indicator instruments, areas of philanthropic interest, and level of attachment to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
  5. Creates well-written and researched profiles, snapshots, and briefs using biographical, financial, and philanthropic information available from publicly held sources.
  6. Performs and oversees regular updates, monitoring, and clean-up activities to ensure accuracy and consistent usage of the Raiser's Edge database to support all prospecting activity, including planned giving, major gifts, queries, proposal tracking, cultivation stage tracking, portfolio and solicitation clearance, and prospect research data inclusion.
  7. Leads and supports bulk and ongoing projects to identify, qualify, and quantify the Foundation's prospect pool through the use of screening, data mining, and statistical analysis of existing constituents.
  8. Confirms prospect ratings obtained from electronic screening services.
  9. Partners with Foundation Data Services to develop and implement policies, trainings, and processes to enhance Foundation-wide knowledge and usage of the Raiser’s Edge database and prospect research/management policies/tools.
  10. Conducts ongoing evaluation of all prospect research processes, including research methods, products, and procedures to meet fundraisers' and the organization's evolving needs.
  11. Safeguards the confidentiality of donor information at all times.
  12. Upholds Foundation and system policies regarding confidential information.
  13. Adheres to ethical and confidentiality guidelines of both Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement.

SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES*

Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.

 

Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
