Emory + Children's Pediatric Institute, Inc. (Emory University, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta) are seeking part or full time physicians board certified in either pediatric emergency medicine, critical care, or pediatric anesthesiology for faculty positions to care for children in our organized procedural sedation service at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston and Children’s at Webb Bridge. Applicants interested in joint positions with Emergency Medicine, Anesthesia and Critical Care will be considered per the needs of each department.  Full-time and part-time applicants will be considered.  Assistant Professor and above will also be considered. 

At Children's, more than 350 Emory faculty members cover 30 specialties. Our staff is involved with pediatric clinical care, teaching, research, child advocacy efforts and treating patients at a variety of clinics and hospitals throughout metro Atlanta.

Our sedation service is one of the largest in the southeast. We sedate over 4,000 children annually with an exceptionally low adverse event rate. Sedation physicians will be responsible for covering sedations for inpatient and outpatient radiology procedures, outpatient oncologic procedures and urgent inpatient procedure consultations. In addition to teaching residents and fellows, administrative and research opportunities may also be pursued.

Employment will be in the Emory + Children's Pediatric Institute. Applicable medical degree.


  • Board certified/Board eligible in either Pediatric Emergency Medicine, Pediatric Critical Care Medicine or Pediatric Anesthesiology and licensed to practice medicine in the state of Georgia
  • Current DEA registration
  • BLS and PALS certification are required


  • Experience with pediatric sedation in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, Pediatric Emergency Medicine or Pediatric Anesthesiology

  • Meets eligibility requirements for credentialing as part of the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Professional Staff  in either Pediatric Emergency Medicine, Pediatric Critical Care Medicine or Pediatric anesthesiology

  1. Provides patient care within the respective clinical area which complies with the Professional Staff Bylaws, rules and regulations and Children’s policies and procedures.
  2. Participates in and incorporates Quality Improvement and research findings into practice.
  3. Provides and/or serves as a resource for patient/family and staff education.
  4. Provides an authenticated report of all physician services rendered and maintains accurate and complete records in an acceptable manner.
  5. Completes necessary documentation and ensures communication to facilitate patent care and appropriate reimbursement.
  6. Participates in meetings/activities as required to support operations of the clinical area.
  7. Supports the development of the physician schedule on a monthly basis.
  8. Participates in activities that enhance professional development, complete and maintain certification in BLS and PALS and maintains any additional specialty training/certifications as required by the area assigned.
  9. Performs other responsibilities as required.


Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.


Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
