Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is hiring a Senior Server Administrator  to join our permanent team! The Senior Server Admin will design and configures Windows-based server environment to support customer and project needs. Designs and configures Active Directory. Designs and configures server management applications to proactively monitor and patch. Designs and configures VMware hypervisor infrastructure.


  • Associate's degree in Management Information Systems, Information Systems, related field, or equivalent technical training and experience


  • Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP), Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), or VMware Certified Professional (VCP), or equivalent experience


  • 10 years of experience in a technical support position in a microcomputer environment
  • 5 years of experience in supporting a large, distributed Windows Server environment
  • 3 years of experience in server virtualization utilizing VMware, including multi-site deployments
  • 3 years of experience in installing/configuring/managing enterprise anti-malware and data protection products and using PowerShell for configuration management and task automation
  • 3 years of experience with load balancers, SQL deployment, Windows Internet Information Services and Windows Clustering (Windows 2008 and above), and large Microsoft Exchange environments, including creating and configuring group policy objects and monitoring and troubleshooting Active Directory replication in a distributed enterprise
  • Experience in an ITIL services framework
  • Experience in the use of Windows and Microsoft Office products, and installing Microsoft applications in a network environment
  • Experience in installing and configuring automated monitoring tools


  • 1 year of experience in healthcare data processing


  • Advanced expertise with foundational networking principles, including DNS, DHCP, and Active Directory in a distributed enterprise
  • Understands technical environments in order to create and document processes and procedures
  • Strong project management skills
  • Well-developed organizational, written communication, and analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively and productively with teams across organizational lines, including administrative/executive staff and patient care systems users
  • Must be able to function in a dynamic environment subject to impromptu changes in schedules and priorities
  • Available 24/7 for issues and problem escalations


  1. Designs and administers network operating systems, including configuration of servers, workstations, virtual hosts, terminal servers, access servers, firewalls, and third-party applications.
  2. Develops and trains processes and procedures for critical operational activities.
  3. Provides third-level support to technical support team.
  4. Performs technical analysis of network operating systems using diagnostic tools to enable growth capacity planning.
  5. Researches and makes recommendations for new products based on current and projected goals.
  6. Verifies network is run in accordance with guidelines set by upper management.
  7. Oversees implementation of data center hardware and software to ensure proper system design.
  8. Develops standards and documentation of all network operating systems.
  9. Mentors other system administrators.
  10. Responds to trouble tickets and systems alerts based on defined service level agreements.
  11. Acts as subject matter expert to all infrastructure operations systems.
  12. Monitors and remediates scheduled system maintenance jobs proactively.
  13. Maintains current operating system/security patches and upgrades systems.
  14. Provides user and desktop computer support in Active Directory.
  15. Creates and maintains shared print queues.
  16. Administers Microsoft Exchange environment.
  17. Builds/provisions virtual machine templates.
  18. Designs enterprise backup systems and daily processes.
  19. Audits all infrastructure operations technology daily processes, addresses any gaps, and validates any remediation is successfully implemented.
  20. Follows DCLM processes and standards.
  21. Follows industry reference architectures and best practices in designing, implementing, and supporting infrastructure operations systems/technologies.
  22. Follows, performs, and completes required change request processes and documentation.
  23. Participates in P1 leadership escalation management when requested.


Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.


Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
