JOB SUMMARY

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is actively seeking a Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine Physician to join our team at Scottish Rite.  In this position, you will provide comprehensive patient care to children and their families with a wide spectrum of pediatric respiratory disorders. You will be joining a collegial team of 11 pediatric pulmonologists with diverse experience, interests and strengths who share a common goal of treating children with all forms of lung disorders.  You will function in this unique private practice-modeled group as both an inpatient and outpatient consultant and primary service attending in conducting comprehensive assessments of children with respiratory system disorders; synthesize a plan of care based on the needs of the child and family; and collaborate with other care providers in order to make care plans successful.

 

You will have the opportunity to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, respiratory therapists, nutritionists, social workers and case managers to provide services for pediatric patients with a wide range of conditions.  Our patient population provides opportunities to treat a wide variety of pathology, including cystic fibrosis, technology dependence, neuromuscular weakness, aerodigestive disorders, chronic lung disease of prematurity, ciliary dyskinesia, sickle cell, asthma, and interstitial lung disease to name a few.  We care for patients in our freestanding, 319-bed children’s hospital that provides all-encompassing pediatric subspecialty support, as well as in our nationally-accredited Cystic Fibrosis Care Center, certified by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, multiple outpatient clinic sites, and hospital based multidisciplinary clinics.  The physician team also provides bronchoscopy services and interprets full pulmonary function testing.  As part of one of the largest pediatric healthcare systems in the southeast, you will provide educational and support resources for patients, families, health care professionals and community agencies regarding pediatric respiratory care issues.  You will also participate in the growth and development of the CPG-Pulmonology program at Scottish Rite, and in developing programmatic initiatives aimed at improving care for children with respiratory disorders.  Opportunities exist for teaching healthcare trainees in both clinical and didactic settings due to our partnerships with several local teaching institutions, including Emory and Morehouse Universities. 

EDUCATION
  • Graduate of an accredited, four-year medical school.
  • Graduate of an accredited, post-graduate residency program in Pediatrics.
  • Meets eligibility requirements for credentialing as part of the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta professional staff.
CERTIFICATION SUMMARY
  • Board certified in Pulmonary Medicine and licensed to practice medicine in the state of Georgia.
  • Current DEA registration.
  • BLS certification is required.
  • PALS or NRP certification.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*
  1. Provides patient care within the respective clinical area which complies with the Professional Staff Bylaws, rules and regulations and Children’s policies and procedures.
  2. Participates in and incorporates Quality Improvement and research findings into practice.
  3. Provides and/or serves as a resource for patient/family and staff education.
  4. Provides an authenticated report of all physician services rendered and maintains accurate and complete records in an acceptable manner.
  5. Completes necessary documentation and ensures communication to facilitate patient care and appropriate reimbursement.
  6. Participates in meetings/activities as required to support operations of the clinical area.
  7. Participates in activities that enhance professional development, complete and maintain certification in BLS, PALS, or NALS and maintains any additional specialty training/certifications as required by the area assigned.
  8. Performs other responsibilities as required.

Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
