Prospect Research Analyst - Foundation - 20 hours/week

JOB SUMMARY

The Prospect Research Analyst gathers, analyzes, and distributes timely, accurate, and useful information to members of the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta development community in order to support effective identification, cultivation, and solicitation of prospects. The analyst also updates the status and coding for constituents, portfolios, and proposals in the Raiser’s Edge database, and supports other tasks as needed related to prospect research and management, as well as data analysis and screening.

The mission of the Children’s Foundation is to make kids better today and healthier tomorrow through the philanthropic support of individual donors, charitable foundations and corporations. Our Foundation relies on volunteers in the hospitals and in the community. Each year, in-hospital volunteers donate more than 127,000 hours of their time, and community volunteer groups raise millions for Children’s through fundraising activities and events.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS*
  • Work experience in development research or a related field
  • Knowledge of Raiser's Edge and standard prospect research techniques and tools
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES*
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office software suite (Outlook, Word, Excel). Ability to manipulate and manage large data sets.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; highly-developed scanning and reading comprehension skills; aptitude for critical thinking and problem-solving; ability to work well under pressure and maintain flexibility.
  • Strong organizational, project management and analytical skills; ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Curiosity, resourcefulness, and an innate ability to identify loose threads needing further exploration.
  • Professional maturity and ability to maintain and handle sensitive and confidential information. 
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*
  1. Conduct research and compile information on individuals, corporations and foundations by utilizing various internal, reference and online resources.
  2. Qualify donor giving capacity and propensity through the analysis of individual, corporate, and foundation financial and philanthropic information.
  3. Assume primary responsibility for meeting the prospect identification and research needs of specifically-assigned relationship managers or program areas in order to assist them in meeting fundraising goals. Facilitate regular meetings, keeping abreast of their activities and current programs, and participate in prospect strategizing.
  4. Perform regular monitoring and clean-up activities to ensure the accuracy and usage of the Raiser's Edge database to support all prospect management activity, including planned giving, major gifts, proposal tracking, cultivation stage tracking, and prospect research data inclusion.
  5. Support bulk and ongoing projects to identify, qualify, and quantify the Foundation's prospect pool through the use of wealth screening services, data mining, and analysis of existing constituents, and confirm prospect ratings obtained through electronic screening services.
  6. Participate in professional development opportunities to expand skills and stay abreast of trends in prospect research, online searching, and constituent analytics.
  7. Safeguard the confidentiality of donor information at all times. Uphold Foundation and System policies regarding confidential information. Adhere to ethical and confidentiality guidelines of both Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement (APRA).
SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES*

Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.

 

Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
