To provide the highest quality age-appropriate care for patients newborn to 21 years of age within the scope of practice and established standards for physical therapy. To function effectively as a member of the rehabilitation team.  To support the mission of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.  To proactively support the efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and to promote a safe environment at Children's.


  • Graduate from accredited school with bachelor of science, or basic master’s degree, or doctorate degree in physical therapy.
  • Proof of Georgia licensure in Physical Therapy or eligible for Georgia licensure and proof of application.
  • BLS Certification is required within 30 days of hire
  • Knowledge of pediatric theory and practice.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for effective communication of information.
  • Positive interpersonal skills and ability to function in an interdisciplinary environment.
  • Minimum of one-year pediatric experience or related experience in physical therapy and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Must be able to successfully pass the Basic Windows Skill Assessment at 80% or higher rating within 30 days of date of hire.


  • Evaluates patients meeting established standards.
  • Plans and implements effective and appropriate treatment so that functional outcomes are achieved.
  • Completes documentation meeting departmental standards for content, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Includes family/caregiver in patient care and provides effective education appropriate for learning needs of patient and family.
  • Provides supervision to Physical Therapist Assistants, Physical Therapy Aides and students as assigned.
  • While clinical staff may serve a specific patient population, they have the potential to care for patients within the age population range served at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.  Clinical staff will have competencies that will incorporate age specific guidelines. This age  population includes:

                        N = Neonate (less than 30 days)

                        I = Infant (30 days to 1 year)

                        EC = Early Childhood (1-5 years)

                        LC = Late Childhood (5-13 years)

                        A = Adolescent (13-17 years)

                        AD = Adult

                        ALL - all ages

  • Demonstrates competence as described in the Children’s Leadership Essentials.
  • Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to supervisor or Compliance Office.
  • Provides excellent service routinely in interactions with all customers, i.e. coworkers, patients, visitors, physicians, volunteers, etc.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Demonstrates adherence to the Children’s Compliance Program as described in the Standards of Conduct; attends appropriate compliance training; demonstrates an understanding of the Compliance reporting process and Non-Retaliation Policy.
