Senior Payroll Analyst

Coordinates the preparation of biweekly and monthly payroll processing, processes involuntary deductions, and is backup to the Payroll Supervisor.


  • High school diploma


  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC)


  • 3 years of experience in payroll, accounting, or auditing
  • Workday experience required


  • Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting, HR or other related field
  • Experience processing payroll in medium to larger organization
  • Prior experience with Workday
  • Advanced MS Excel Skills
  • Experience with time and attendance systems, especially API


  • Knowledge of computer systems applicable to payroll, time and attendance, and accounting applications
  • Thorough understanding of and ability to comply with payroll tax and regulatory requirements at the federal, state, and local levels
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information


  1. Assists with daily department operations, including biweekly and monthly pay processing and adherence to specific pay practices and incentive pay arrangements 
  2. Demonstrate ownership of all aspects of the payroll process
  3. Provides exceptional customer service
  4. Assists with implementation of departmental policies and procedures.
  5. Maintains and enhances accounting systems with continual review and recommends more efficient methods.
  6. Ensures adherence to internal controls and compliance with Children's Healthcare of Atlanta policies and procedures.
  7. Processes and maintains employee deductions, regulatory tax deductions, voluntary and court-ordered deductions.
  8. Processes payroll in absence of Payroll Supervisor and/or Manager, Payroll.
  9. Understands all aspects of Workday paycycle to assist with testing end-to-end functionality
  10. Establishes and maintains strong working relationships among all Children's Healthcare of Atlanta employees and managers.
  11. Assists payroll leadership with special projects as needed
  12. Provides salary and related benefit data to system leaders to facilitate budgetary/financial decision-making.
  13. Acts as liaison between Information Systems & Technology, Human Resources, and Finance.


Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.


Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
