Patient Activity Specialist-The Zone

Work Schedule/Days:  Rotating Weekend / Saturday; Sunday

JOB SUMMARY

Assists and collaborates in the implementation and delivery of activities to help meet the developmental and social needs of patients and families.

EDUCATION

• Associate’s degree in Child Development or related field

CERTIFICATION SUMMARY

• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment

EXPERIENCE*

• Experience in a group setting with a child

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS*

• Bachelor’s degree
• Computer skills

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES*

• Must be able to work under deadlines, with multiple tasks, and with individuals representing all levels within the organization
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate well in person, in writing, and on the phone

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*

1. Plans and implements high-quality, comprehensive individual and group activities.
2. Collaborates with Foundation, Marketing, and Public Relations in fundraising events and donor relations/activities.
3. Promotes participation in hospital-wide and unit-based special events.
4. Serves as liaison for patient needs between Child Life Specialists and other staff as needed.
5. Provides computer and audio-visual activities and programming.

SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES*

Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.

 

Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
