The Pediatric Dentist is responsible for the provision of medical and clinical aspects of comprehensive hospital-based Pediatric Dental services, within the context of the overall philosophy. Policies, goals and objectives of the Pediatric Dentistry Department, Craniofacial Service Line and Scottish Rite Children's Medical Center.  Proactively supports the efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promotes a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.


Graduate of an accredited Dental School. Completed a minimum of a two-year graduate program in Pediatric Dentistry


•    Board certified or eligible in Pediatric Dentistry
•    Licensed to practice dentistry in the State of Georgia
•    Current DEA registration
•    BLS certification is required. PALS or NRP certification


•    Training, experience and knowledge interest in Pediatric Dental Services




•    Member in good standing of the Medical Staff of the Hospital, with clinical privileges to permit the performance of all services required in this job description

1.    Participates in the planning, organization, and coordination of the activities of the Pediatric Dentistry Department to meet identified goals.
2.    Participates in the education and evaluation of the positions of Dental Hygienist and Dental Assistant. Aids the Director of Pediatric Dentistry on appropriate staffing levels for the program.
3.    Advises the Director of Pediatric Dentistry on appropriate equipment needs, utilization of space, and cost-effective improvements for the Dental Program.
4.    Complies with all regulatory standards and hospital policies.
5.    Participates in multi-specialty clinics as invited.
6.    Assists in preparation of annual reports and budgetary planning.
7.    Supports and participates in the continuous assessment and improvement of the quality of services provided.
8.    Delivers competent patient care, integrating infection control and body substance precautions, patient safety, body mechanics, and knowledge of growth and development to patients from newborns to 21 years of age.
9.    Demonstrates and practices family centered care:
•    Maintains a therapeutic relationship with patient and family.
•    Communicates relevant information at the patient's and family's level of understanding.
•    Identifies patient/family needs for services from ancillary departments and provides follow-up and referral as necessary.
10.    Other functions as appropriate and assigned by the Director of Pediatric Dentistry.


Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.
Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
