In order to meet the demands of a growing patient population, the Center for Cleft and Craniofacial Disorders at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is seeking an experienced orthodontist, interested in working closely with other members of the craniofacial team to meet the orthodontic needs of our patients. 


In this part-time role, the Pediatric Orthodontist will provide diagnosis and treatment planning for our pediatric patient population. The Orthodontist also constructs appliances including NAMS and sees newborns with feeding difficulties due to craniofacial abnormalities.  Our pediatric orthodontists work closely with other members of the Children’s craniofacial (CF) team to treat children with dental-facial problems such as jaw deformities, cleft lip and palate and midfacial anomalies. The CF team includes plastic surgeons, otolaryngologists, orthodontists, dentists, speech pathologists, and more. This orthodontist will also work with other team members to optimize clinic operations in the outpatient setting.

  • Graduate of an accredited Dental School. Completed a minimum of a two-year graduate program  in Orthodontics
  • Licensed to practice dentistry in the State of Georgia
  • Board Certification or Eligibility required                                                                       
  • Certification in C.P.R
  • No minimum experience required
  • One to two years of pediatric experience
  • Member in good standing of the Medical Staff of the Hospital, with clinical privileges to  permit the performance of all services required in this job description

  1. Participates in the development of the orthodontic program consistent with the hospital's goals  and objectives.
  2. Provides daily supervision of the orthodontic assistants by providing the Pediatric Dental  Director with written responsibilities and monitoring of their activities.
  3. Assures appropriate routine and emergency orthodontic coverage necessary to support the  orthodontics program.
  4. Assists with establishing policies and procedures pertaining to orthodontics.
  5. Assists with budget projections for revenue and expenses.
  6. Maintains accurate and complete medical records, including written documentation of each  patient visit, x-rays, and models as appropriate.
  7. Provides continued guidance and support to the Craniofacial software systems.
  8. Supports and ensures compliance with the patient billing structure and provides guidance for the  patient appointment structure.
  9. Promotes the Orthodontic and Craniofacial Programs through participation in educational  programs to enhance professional and community awareness.
  10. Supports and participates in the continuous assessment and improvement of the quality of care  and service provided.
  11. Delivers competent patient care support services to patients from newborn to 21 years of age and  integrates infection control and body substance precautions, body mechanics and knowledge of  growth and development. 
  12. Supports and participates in continuous assessment and improvement of the quality of care  and services provided.

Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.


Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
