JOB SUMMARY
Provides strategic leadership in the development and implementation of clinical informatics strategies. In collaboration with Information Systems and Technology (IS&T), engages nursing staff and clinical and/or executive leaders in operational planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical system integration. Represents and advocates for operational nursing priorities in various clinical technology projects and work streams. Leads in the selection, design and execution of clinical informatics systems that improve clinical effectiveness, outcomes, and patient safety.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*
- Develops a vision for nursing informatics by reviewing trends, experiences and approaches in the field and implements strategies to leverage technology integration for clinicians to improve patient outcomes
- Accountable leader to represent, advocate, and drive key operational nursing priorities in various clinical technology projects
- Partners with IS&T to develop business cases for technologies, identifies key operational leaders and stakeholders to be engaged in initiatives, and identifies potential project risks to be addressed, coordinating response plan to ensure initiative or project success
- Delivers analysis and recommendations for addressing clinical problems for executive review
- Provides oversight and supervision of curriculum plans for clinical related initiatives
- Partners with Accreditation to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and technology initiatives
- Establishes and maintains effective collaborative working relationships with clinical leaders and IS&T colleagues
- Collaborates with end users, operational leaders, and key stakeholders to investigate complex problems, provide innovative strategies, and implement identified technology solutions
- Evaluates the effectiveness of information systems and tools on performance improvement efforts, work process, patient safety and quality in order to plan and prioritize ongoing systems’ improvement
- Assists clinical teams and information systems analysts to incorporate effective decision support to maximize the application of evidence-based standards in nursing practice and information systems and tools
EXPERIENCE*
- Five or more years of health care experience with three years’ experience in a management capacity

- Proven skill and knowledge in nursing informatics
- Demonstrate well-developed analytical skills in a service environment, incorporating data and human factors into decisions and recommendations
- Work well with others and engages multiple levels of experts and leaders

- Demonstrates ability to confront and creatively manage conflict
- Demonstrates sound business and financial acumen
- Strong collaboration and influencing skills with physicians, care team partners, and cross functional teams
- Adept understanding of operational constraints within the clinical setting

- Exceptional complex project management and data management skills
- Advanced oral and written communication skills with strong presentation ability
- Proficient at a high level in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
EDUCATION
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing
CERTIFICATION SUMMARY
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the single State of Georgia or Multi-State through the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact
- Professional nursing certification required upon hire or must obtain within one year of hire
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS*
- Master’s degree in nursing, management, or other healthcare related field
- Specialty Certification in Nursing Informatics strongly preferred
- Experience in managing and leading business operations
- Experience managing high complexity projects related to clinical informatics including leading and sponsoring IT related projects
SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES*
Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.
Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
