Neurodiagnostic Supervisor

The Neurophysiology Lab Supervisor is responsible for providing supervision of all neurodiagnostic testing and monitoring technicians. The supervisor will assist the Neurophysiology Manager in program advancement, personnel management, quality assessment and assurance, and operational and financial direction of diagnostic services. Neurodiagnostic services can include but are not limited to electroencephalograms (EEG), evoked potentials (EP), nerve conduction studies (NCS), long-term monitoring for epilepsy (LTME), intensive care unit and continuous EEG monitoring (ICU/cEEG), and intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM). The Neurophysiology Lab Supervisor proactively supports efforts to ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.


  • Associate’s degree


  • Must hold REEGT and one of the following credentials in neurodiagnostics services, which can include, but are not limited to:
    • R.EP.T.
    • CLTM
    • CNIM
    • R.NCS.T.
    • DABNM
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment


  • Five years of technical experience
  • One year of experience in supervision/leadership


  • One year of experience in pediatric setting
  • Bachelor’s degree


  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and delegate work
  • Excellent communication skills


  1. Coordinates activities effectively in neurodiagnostic area, ensuring patient flow is accomplished in an orderly and timely fashion.
  2. Manages technical personnel by preparing schedules, completing performance appraisals, providing education as needed, and providing timely feedback to employees on a regular basis by way of coaching and/or corrective action. 
  3. Demonstrates abilities and competencies in performing procedures, recording, analyzing, and diagnosing various physiological monitoring functions with the following devices, equipment, or techniques: Modalities may include EEG, EP, IONM, LTM, NCS, EMG, ERG, Ictal Spect and autonomic testing and sleep studies; Intra Operative Neuro Monitoring (IOM) and data analysis.
  4. Demonstrates proficiency in use of all equipment and all clinical locations, and assists with training of staff members as necessary.
  5. Monitors quality of studies and monitoring, and acts as a liaison between epileptologists/neurologists and technologists to ensure highest quality is maintained at all times.  
  6. Participates in achievement of organizational and department goals, with a strong emphasis on customer service and quality of care.
  7. Participates actively in quality initiatives to achieve quality goals.
  8. Monitors ability of staff to provide age-appropriate patient care.
  9. Meets Joint Commission readiness targets.
  10. Participates actively in the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists EEG lab accreditation application process and subsequent maintenance and image quality reporting associated with accreditation.
  11. Assists Neurophysiology Manager with development of staff by being available to teammates, acting as a resource to help complete complicated/complex tasks, providing on-the-job training to team, seeking out opportunities to become actively involved in staff workflow and development, and communicating departmental messages as needed.
  12. Provides Neurophysiology Manager feedback on staff performance, educational needs, and workflow status.
  13. Facilitates processes to maintain successful inventory levels and cost-effective practice of supply management by team members, including supportive strategies for cost-containment.
  14. Must be able to perform the professional, clinical, and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
  15. Assists Neurophysiology Manager in charge capture and data collection activities.


Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.


Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
