Manager, Surgical Inventory - Egleston

Manages staff performing inventory activities. Ensures adequate and efficient usage and levels of supplies. Analyzes inventory-related information to identify areas of opportunity and takes action to improve system efficiency, standardization and cost savings. Collaborates with other departmental leaders to improve department processes. Works collaboratively with other members of the team to provide quality service to proactively support the efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and to promote a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.


  • High school diploma or equivalent


  • No professional certifications required


  • Five years inventory control/purchasing experience in an OR environment
  • Two years of experience in a supervisory role


  • Additional training/certification
  • Knowledge of proper sterilization techniques and standards


  • Effective interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Extensive knowledge of inventory control, equipment management, and supply utilization methodologies
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in facilitating and leading cross-functional teams and in working collaboratively with groups or teams
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage budgets and other financial skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently/autonomously
  • High level of proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point


  1. Analyzes inventory-related information to identify areas of opportunity, and takes action to improve system efficiency, standardization, and cost savings.
  2. Interfaces and coordinates activities related to supply chain to ensure effective and efficient delivery of services.
  3. Manages process to ensure new supply procurement process is efficient and effective and complied with.
  4. Manages process to keep OpTime and Lawson appropriately linked.
  5. Reviews and modifies par levels as needed.
  6. Oversees the procurement and management of supplies for the Service Line.
  7. Ensures physical inventory counts are conducted on a regular basis at all locations within service line.
  8. Supervises staff performing inventory activities ensuring daily adherence to policies and processes.
  9. Provides superior customer service duties by interacting with internal and external customers (patients, parents, co-workers) in a professional and courteous manner, maintaining cohesiveness of the department.


Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.


Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
