Mgr, Neurophysiology Epilepsy - Registered Nurse (RN) or APP

JOB SUMMARY

Provides oversight of staff and day-to-day operations for the Neurophysiology team, Epilepsy monitoring unit and Epilepsy/Epilepsy Surgery program. Supports and ensures high quality, comprehensive patient care services are provided. Partners with all physicians, inpatient unit/department leaders, outpatient clinic managers, and physician practice management team to ensure efficient throughput, high patient satisfaction and seamless day-to-day operations. 

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field

CERTIFICATION SUMMARY

  • Licensure as a registered nurse in the single State of Georgia or Multi-State through the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact or Registered by the American Board of Electro-neurodiagnostic Technologists (ABRET)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment.

EXPERIENCE*

• 5 years of experience in management and operations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS*

  • Master's degree in business administration, health administration, or related field or experience equivalent
  • Experience as Registered Nurse, Advanced Practice Provider (APP - Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) or EEG Technician 
  • Two to five years of experience in service-related areas focusing on EEG (electroencephalogram) quality improvement and service excellence

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*

1. Manages Neurophysiology department and Epilepsy Program operations, including scheduling, staffing, referral management, fiscal responsibility, performance metrics, quality, performance improvement, and personnel management.
2. Leads in development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and services of assigned focus area in collaboration with physician and operational leaders.
3. Works with departmental business and clinical leaders to ensure operational collaboration and oversight of departmental program, policies, and practices and to facilitate programs, policies, and practices which promote delivery of safe patient care.
4. Develops and implements an operational plan for system integration and seamless care delivery for neurophysiology services and epilepsy program services.
5. Monitors and manages access to neurophysiology and epilepsy program services to ensure appropriate and timely access.
6. Monitors and manages revenue generation and operational efficiency.
7. Manages the utilization of resources for effective and efficient services including staffing models and productivity.
8. Evaluates and makes recommendations for business development opportunities.
9. Collaborates with medical staff and all levels of hospital personnel to assure high-quality, operationally efficient and cost-effective care.
10. Partners proactively with leadership and staff of outpatient and physician practices to ensure a seamless and high-quality patient and family experience.
11. Manages employee performance effectively and encourages professional development of assigned staff by supporting participation in educational programs, professional organizations, and activities to promote competencies, develop and build job-related skills, and promote internal leadership.
12. Ensures neurophysiology technicians are trained and maintain level of proficiency
13. Manages contracted vendor performance, including service level agreements, etc.
14. Partners proactively with physician leaders in identifying and implementing performance improvement initiatives, quality improvement initiatives and executing on program and service plans.
15. Implements research projects as applicable.
16. Takes responsibility for all aspects of managing and leading a team including interviewing, hiring, training, developing, directing work and processes, managing performance, recognizing, and rewarding employees.
17. Mentors team members to encourage personal and professional growth.
18. Maximizes workflow and IT efficiency, from ordering through reporting, and monitors timely dissemination of results to ordering providers.
19. Manages revenue cycle activities including charge capture and reconciliation, collections, internal controls, coding and denial monitoring.
20. Develops and maintains internal and community relationships effectively to ensure excellent communication and collaboration regarding focus area programs/services and outcomes reporting.
21. Identifies and resolves important ethical, strategic and operating problems that require innovative solutions.

 

SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES*

Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.

Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
