JOB SUMMARY

Works as an empowered employee within established guidelines, procedures, and protocols to provide administrative and dispatching support for the care, welfare, safety, services, and security of hospital personnel, visitors, patients, and property. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

EDUCATION
  • High school diploma or equivalent
CERTIFICATION SUMMARY
  • Valid Georgia driver’s license
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) at orientation or within 3 months of employment
  • International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety basic certification within 6 months of employment, advanced certification within 9 months of employment, and supervisor certification within 12 months of employment (external candidates)
  • International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety advanced certification upon consideration and supervisor certification within 3 months of promotion (internal candidates)
EXPERIENCE*
  • 3 years of experience in security, law enforcement, military, or public relations in a supervisory capacity
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS*
  • Some college

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*
  1. Ensures consistent patrols of facility and follows up on findings of issues related to security, parking, policy compliance, and safety.
  2. Ensures posting at designated areas, performance of assigned duties, and completeness of reports of any unusual occurrences.
  3. Serves as ambassador for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta by maintaining and ensuring proper grooming, dress, and appearance as outlined in departmental protocol.
  4. Ensures 24-hour control center monitoring and coverage of duties, including alarm monitoring (e.g., fire, boiler, panic, code blue), making code announcements, issuing car seats, and other services/emergency functions.
  5. Intervenes in crisis situations and assists Division of Family and Children Services, Risk Management, Safety, Nursing, Administration, law enforcement, and social workers in the protection and safety of personnel, patients, visitors, and property.
  6. Remains up-to-date on current security and professional issues through reading and self-study.
  7. Ensures cleanliness and organization of assigned post and vehicles.
  8. Ensures valet parking for board members, VIPs, patients, and other as needed and directed.
  9. Provides guidance, training, and support to staff members.
  10. Reports security needs and suggestions to Senior Security Supervisor.
  11. Ensures escort availability to anyone requesting this service.
  12. Assist Supervisor and/or Manager with development of staff by: being available to teammates, acting as a resource to help complete complicated/complex tasks, providing on the job training to team, and seeking out opportunities to become actively involved in staff workflow and development.
  13. Provide Supervisor and/or Manager feedback on staff performance, educational needs, and workflow status.
SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES*

Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.

 

Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
