JOB SUMMARY

Maintains the functional operations of the database, ensuring accuracy and appropriate usage by all internal and external customers. Works proactively to increase the functionality of the database to meet the needs of internal and external customers. Provides implementation support, technology consultation, and operational support to Information Systems & Technology and the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta user community.  Advocates for user needs and coordinates support requests with Information Systems & Technology. Trains, coaches, and mentors Data Entry Specialist. Serves as point of escalation for support and expert resource needs. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

EDUCATION
  • Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree from an accredited program
CERTIFICATION SUMMARY
  • Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) or within 1 year of employment (Medical Staff Services)
EXPERIENCE*
  • 5 years of experience in database management or related field (Medical Staff Services)

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*
  1. Manages various components of the database, including accuracy, reporting to other systems, data collection, and retrieval.
  2. Develops and maintains security levels of the database for internal and external users.
  3. Manages the reporting processes and audit functions to monitor and ensure data integrity and  uniformity.
  4. Maintains quality oversight of data changes to information in the database.
  5. Works collaboratively with other information systems managers to ensure database yields a smooth workflow processes.
  6. Promotes use of the database by developing advertising and communication materials on the intranet and acting as a liaison to other departments.
  7. Creates and edits reports, documents, and queries from database and ensures reported output is accurate and matches user requirement.
  8. Maintains professional development and technical competency.
  9. Works collaboratively with Information Systems and Technology to ensure database is working properly and meets the needs of the department/organization.
  10. Trains staff to use the database efficiently and effectively, including creating the appropriate training manuals and guide resources and facilitating internal user groups to discuss issues.
  11. Performs data and system analysis to determine best business intelligence solution (e.g., reports, scorecards, dashboards).
  12. Designs and delivers business intelligence applications using Qlikview.
  13. Coordinates activities to ensure medical records provider identifier data is accurate in all electronic medical records systems, e.g., ADT, EPIC, and ChartMaxx. (Medical Staff Services)
  14. Demonstrates an Information Systems & Technology department focus by participating in accessCHOA implementation and ongoing monitoring team, responding to Provider Data Management service queue requests within designated times according to priority to ensure that issues are addressed and resolved, providing resolution that ensures emergency medical records contain accurate provider identifier data, and maintaining a strong and positive relationship with all application vendors.   15. Demonstrates a Patient Access department focus by responding to Patient Access requests within designated times to ensure emergency medical records contain accurate provider identifier data, verifying accurate provider identifier data, updating master database, confirming Epic SER record generates, preparing and electronically distributing daily updates to provider identifier data, and updating emergency medical records with accurate referring provider identifier data.   16. Demonstrates Physician Outreach department focus by responding to Physician Outreach requests within designated times to ensure accurate provider identifier data, verifying accurate provider identifier data, updating master database, and confirming Epic SER record generates.   17. Assist Supervisor and/or Manager with development of staff by: being available to teammates, acting as a resource to help complete complicated/complex tasks, providing on the job training to team, and seeking out opportunities to become actively involved in staff workflow and development.
  18. Provide Supervisor and/or Manager feedback on staff performance, educational needs, and workflow status.
SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES*

Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.

 

Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
