Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is hiring an Information System Pharmacist to join our team!  The Information System Pharmacist is a part of our Information Security & Technology department on our Business Partnering - Inpatient team and participates in planning, development, training, implementation, evaluation, and maintenance of pharmacy information system. Functions as liaison among Information Systems & Technology, various clinical departments, and clinical information systems vendors as requested. Supports development and implementation of physician order entry system by interfacing with pharmacy clinicians to design, implement, and update clinical pathways. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.


  • PharmD (or equivalent experience) and graduation from an accredited pharmacy school


  • Georgia licensed pharmacist


  • Two years of experience in a clinical setting


  • Experience in pediatrics
  • Experience in implementing or supporting clinical information systems and/or advanced computer skills
  • Experience in Epic
  • Epic Willow Certification


  • Ability to apply creative methods to analyze and enhance operational workflows through combined use of clinical expertise and information technology

1.Functions as business partner with service lines, departments, individuals, and coworkers.

•Assists with development and implementation of short- and long-range goals for pharmacy and nutrition department information system needs.
•Develops in-depth knowledge of system capabilities, applications, and processes to function effectively as an educator and expert for system users.
•Advises clinical operational users on integration of technical systems with their workflows.
•Participates actively in routine meetings with department heads and/or superusers to identify, document, and prioritize their needs.
•Performs rounds with departments to maintain casual interface with individuals and focus on relationship-building.
•Coordinates operational and capital project requests with appropriate Information Systems & Technology and operational teams.
•Acts as contact point with Information Systems & Technology regarding system down time.


2.Provides technical support services.

•Provides Epic and other applications software support, file maintenance, and build for break-fixes, optimizations, special updates, upgrades, and implementations.
•Provides assessment, coordination, documentation, release note review, testing, and implementation of programming, upgrade, and project requests.
•Maintains strong and positive relationships with all application vendors.
•Provides on-call coverage as scheduled.


3.Provides project management services and support.

•Follows Information Systems & Technology project management protocol.
•Advocates user perspective and focuses on ensuring a comprehensive support plan and documentation.
•Works with end users to navigate the project request process.


4.Ensures compliance with Information Systems & Technology, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Joint Commission, and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act guidelines, policies, and procedures.

•Provides system solutions in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
•Follows prescribed change management and time reporting processes and documentation requirements.
•Responds to support calls within designated times according to priority and provides regular updates until resolution.
•Provides appropriate support documentation, status, and issues resolution reporting.
•Remains current on Epic new version training for all applicable Epic certifications.


5.Provides leadership within and across teams.

•Assists/mentors team members and other staff and serves as orientation resource for new employees. 
•Develops and maintains positive relationships with team, department members and the organization. 
•Participates in educational and leadership opportunities to enhance professional growth and expertise.
•Serves as positive change agent within and across teams.
•Leads/facilitates team and cross team meetings and initiatives.
•Maintains individual competence and develops professional practice management skills.
•Contributes to understanding of effective, safe, and economical drug use by supporting and conducting patient-related pediatric pharmacy research and/or sharing innovative hospital ideas within and outside the hospital as appropriate.
•Maintains professional contacts, actively participates in professional organizations as appropriate, and shares knowledge with peers and students.


Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.


Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
