INTERN - IS&T Clinical Applications Support (Summer 2020)

JOB SUMMARY

hildren's Healthcare of Atlanta is looking for a student interested in healthcare IT to join our summer intern program!  The IS&T Inpatient clinical operations support intern within our IS&T team supports the clinical documentation of Children’s Clinicians, Fellows, Nurses, Respiratory Therapists, Chaplains, Case Managers, Clinical Nutritionists and other care providers across Egleston, Scottish Rite, and Hughes Spalding campuses. We build and support Children’s Electronic Medical Record (EMR) which is used to order medications and procedures, document care, and assist Providers in researching history to care for our patients. 

 

This intern will help us identify and document areas in our ticket request and other process opportunities for improvement as we continue updates to our EMR system and provide continual support to our business partners.

EDUCATION

Progression toward an undergraduate or graduate degree in Healthcare, Project Management, Business Management, Engineering or Computer Science.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*
  1. Complete workflow diagrams of existing Inpatient workflows and identify points of impact with the 2020 Spring update.
  2. Assist with designing and implementing a tracking mechanism for our IS&T/Lab sprint model pilot.
  3. Define and develop recommendations for ServiceNow request catalog items for end users and their related Service Line Agreements.
SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES*

Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.

 

Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
