Human Resources Generalist

Under the direction of the Human Resources Director, provides HR employee relations support to managers and employees for assigned areas.  Handles first level employee relations calls for requests such as guidance on HR policies, addressing performance behavior/attendance issues and exit interviews. Serves as first line of HR support for employees.


  • Bachelor’s Degree



  • •A minimum of 3 years experience in at least one human resources discipline required; or, any equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience


  • Specific experience in employee relations and a working knowledge of employment law preferred
  • Direct supervisory experience preferred


  • Strong oral and written communication skills required
  • Solid listening and coaching skills
  • Must possess general business management knowledge and analytical skills, human relations and people sensitive skills and exhibit good judgement
  • Strong attention to detail, documenting/summarizing conversations and guidance given
  • Solid analytical skills and ability to provide trends analysis and solid recommendations to HRDs/HRCs
  • General knowledge of labor laws, FMLA, ADA, FLSA
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Must have a proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel; experience using Lawson HRIS is preferred


  1. Works with managers and staff to identify solutions to employee relations issues.  Performs appropriate investigation, counsel, support, and/or referrals.
  2. Assists managers with the performance management and corrective action processes.  Analyzes documentation used to evaluate, correct and enhance job performance and other workplace behaviors and provides appropriate guidance as necessary to assure overall fairness and consistency of practice.
  3. Conducts exit interviews with employees. Tracks insights and share trends with HRDs/HRCs.
  4. Collects and analyzes employee turnover and employee satisfaction information.  Identifies trends and recommends solutions.
  5. Reviews and responds to requests from the DOL and other regulatory agencies.
  6. Serve as point person for yearly compliance data collection.
  7. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.


Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.


Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
