JOB SUMMARY

Provides guidance and direction regarding policies, procedures, employee relations, performance management, rewards, recognition, recruiting, employee engagement, and training. Investigates and provides recommendations regarding employee disputes through accepted human resources practices.

EDUCATION
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related area
CERTIFICATION SUMMARY
  • No professional certifications required
EXPERIENCE*
  • Five years of experience in human resources
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with employees at all levels
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating groups to successful outcomes
  • Proven experience influencing leaders using data, reasoning, and persuasion
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS*
  • Master’s degree
  • Business experience in multiple industries
  • PHR or SPHR certification
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES*
  • Working knowledge of federal and state employment law and regulations
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Change management, problem solving, and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Successful track record identifying and providing human resources solutions and counsel
  • Must be able to develop and manage projects and deliver measurable impact
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*
  1. Serves as business partner to assigned client.
  2. Advises on all human resources matters, including employee relations, recruiting and retention strategies, and employee development.
  3. Counsels leaders and employees on human resources policies, programs, and initiatives, including performance management, leave of absence, and disciplinary action.
  4. Analyzes data and reports that monitor and measure Human Resources' effectiveness.
  5. Shares trends that lead to discussions and/or actions for improvement or sustainability with human resources colleagues or leadership.
  6. Consults with Human Resources Centers of Excellence (Recruiting, Total Rewards, and Learning) to effectively diagnose and respond to issues or conduct project work for assigned business areas.
  7. Investigates, documents, and addresses any complaints of unfair or inappropriate treatment, compliance complaints concerning human resources matters, and any other complaints.
  8. Maintains reporting on grievances, discipline procedures, terminations, and related actions.
  9. Partners with Legal in responding to legal claims (e.g., OFCCP, EEOC, DFEH).
  10. Consults with Legal on matters including leaves of absence, ADA, reductions in force and job eliminations, and terminations to ensure consistency and mitigate risk.
  11. Collaborates with leaders and internal partners (e.g., Employee Health, Security, Pharmacy) on fit for duty assessments, terminations, drug testing for cause, and drug diversion investigations.
  12. Reviews and responds to requests and audits from the Department of Labor.
  13. Represents Children's Healthcare of Atlanta in unemployment hearings.
  14. Prepares monthly, annual, and ad hoc reports, presentations, and other materials.
  15. Responsible for all aspects of managing and leading a team including: interviewing, hiring, training, developing, directing work and processes, managing performance, recognizing, and rewarding employees.
  16. Mentor team members to encourage personal and professional growth.
  17. Encourage ongoing skill development by providing opportunities for continued education.
SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES*

Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.

 

Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
