Pediatric Institute: Heart Center Hospitalist

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is seeking a cardiac hospitalist to work in our cardiac intensive care unit as a front line provider. Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is the largest pediatric referral center in the Southeast with the pediatric cardiac program being one of the largest in the United States with more than 800 cardiac surgeries performed each year.

The cardiac ICU is a dedicated 27 bed unit with over 1000 admissions per year and has an associated 32 bed cardiac step-down unit. There are plans to expand the cardiac ICU to 34 bed within the next 18 months and are seeking well qualified candidates to fill a role as a CICU hospitalist.

A CICU hospitalist will serve as a front line provider within the cardiac intensive care unit and will work under the supervision of the CICU faculty. They will work alongside the Cardiology fellow, Critical Care fellow, and the Advance Practice Providers in the day to day management of the patients and will collaborate with other cardiac sub-specialists and the cardiovascular surgical team.


  • Applicable medical degree


  • Board certified and licensed to practice medicine in the state of Georgia
  • Current DEA registration
  • BLS certification is required
  • PALS or NRP certification


  • No minimum experience required

  • Provides patient care within the clinical area
  • Complies with Children’s Professional Staff Bylaws, rules regulations, and policies and procedures
  • Incorporates Quality Improvement and current practice evidence-based medicine into practice
  • Provides an authenticated report of all physician services rendered and maintains accurate and complete records in an acceptable manner
  • Completes necessary documentation an ensures communication to facilitate patient care and
     appropriate reimbursement
  • Participates in meeting and activities as required to support operation of the clinical area
  • Participates in activities that enhance professional development and maintaining appropriate certification
  • Performs other responsibilities as required


Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.


Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
