JOB SUMMARY

Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is hiring an Interface Developer to join our team!  The Interface Developer performs application development following industry best practices. Produces solutions by working closely with business users throughout all phases of the software development lifecycle. Works both collaboratively and independently among a team of other developers in the areas of requirements gathering, learning industry and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta best practices, solution architecture, and software development methodology.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, related field, or equivalent technical training and experience

CERTIFICATION SUMMARY

EXPERIENCE*

  • 3 years of experience in electronic data interchange, interfaces, healthcare information systems development and clinical data management
  • Experience in HL7, X12, XML standards for interface analysis and development

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS*

  • Experience in a healthcare setting
  • Epic Bridges interface administrator certification preferred but not required (open to receiving it if not)
  • HL7 background
  • Corepoint Integration

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Well-developed and proven organizational, problem-solving, analytical, and time management skills
  • Must be able to function in a dynamic environment subject to impromptu changes in schedules and priorities
  • Must be able to work on multiple projects concurrently
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively and productively with teams across organizational lines, including administrative/executive staff and patient care systems users
  • Ability to perform job duties independently with minimal supervision
  • High capacity for data analysis, data modeling, computer programming, problem-solving, sound judgment, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Current knowledge of industry-accepted best practices and trends as applicable
  • Must have an understanding of information systems, data modeling, business intelligence, and relational database design and knowledge of how to access multiple information sources
  • Extensive knowledge of interface engines, e.g., Corepoint and Epic Bridges
  • Working knowledge of interfacing with databases, e.g., SQL and Oracle

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*

 

  1. Understands and effectively utilizes Children's Healthcare of Atlanta's Corepoint Integration Engine tools, functions, and features.
  2. Develops and documents new interface builds, coordinates testing, and manages issues.  
  3. Provides technical support for all Interfaces, including after-hours on-call rotation.
  4. Understands and effectively follows technical guidelines and best practices for area of specialization, e.g. engine configuration, HL7 interface development standards, and Epic Bridges interface specifications.
  5. Analyzes and provides recommendations for improving data flows and/or operational workflows.

SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES*

Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.

 

Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
