HIS Data Integrity Analyst

Provides application and operational support to the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Health Information Services department. Assists in maintaining the functional operations of information systems, ensuring that the clinical record and data are accurate and reliable. Reviews, researches, and resolves problems and errors concerning patient identifiers, data integrity of the electronic/paper medical record, and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta source systems.


• High school diploma or equivalent


• No professional certifications required


• 1 year of experience in a health system
• 1 year of experience in working with an electronic medical record system
• 1 year of experience in direct customer service


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Health Information Management, or related field


  • Demonstrated knowledge of the business content or clinical content of hospital systems deemed a part of core health information systems
  • Proven knowledge of protected health information, including federal/state regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to function in a dynamic environment subject to impromptu changes in schedules and priorities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of health information systems and the management of data accuracy and reliability


  1. Serves as first line of support for maintenance/troubleshooting of Health Information Services applications/information systems.
  2. Addresses and corrects integration issues between systems and completes interface reconciliation monitoring daily.
  3. Maintains master patient index databases and coordinates/completes activities to ensure medical records merges are completed and patient identifier data is accurate in all systems that comprise the electronic medical records (e.g., ADT, EPIC, ChartMaxx).
  4. Serves as liaison between Health Information Services, Patient Access, Community Health Records affiliates, Patient Accounting, Information Systems & Technology, and clinical areas to monitor and resolve duplicate medical record numbers and account number issues.
  5. Provides appropriate updates to downstream systems and staff contacts.
  6. Performs record audits both at the point of care and retrospectively by completing random audits of charts for the presence of specific data, assurance of appropriate documentation, compliance with policies, and chart integrity/accuracy for both documentation and scanning.
  7. Maintains ChartMaxx security and coordinates and performs system security and other protected health information activities according to information security guidelines.
  8. Functions as a Health Information Services subject matter expert for testing and updates.


Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.
Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
