JOB SUMMARY

The Financial Planning Manager serves as the connection amongst finance, strategy, and operations for the applicable assigned areas. This role develops and maintains business plans and pro formas and leads development of summaries and presentations for decision-making. The Financial Planning Manager ensures that linkages/interdependencies between strategic initiatives in his/her assigned area are holistically understood and analyzed. Identifies opportunities and develops solutions to improve operations and financial performance.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, healthcare administration or related field required

CERTIFICATION SUMMARY

  • No professional certifications required

EXPERIENCE*

  • 6+ years’ experience in a role performing financial analysis and developing financial plans required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS*

  • Advanced experience using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Proficiency with Microsoft Word
  • Master’s degree in above fields
  • Certified Public Accountant or Chartered Financial Analyst certifications

  • Demonstrates ability to be a reliable finance partner with operational leaders (Vice Presidents and Directors)

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*

  1. Gathers/ensures applicable financial and benchmark information and data is used to perform analysis to identify key trends, establish baseline and determine present and future financial performance.
  2. Develops thorough understanding of key historical and benchmark data.
  3. Ensures development of consistent and standardized financial plans and reports for assigned areas
  4. Ensures financial models and standard templates are consistently used and updated during the planning processes.
  5. Leads development and implementation of financial models for assigned areas that are part of system-wide strategic initiatives.
  6. Develops executive-level financial plan summaries and presentations.
  7. Works with Financial Operations and Physician Practice Finance to provide inputs for annual operating and capital budgets based on financial models developed for strategic plans.
  8. Provides/ensures  timely, relevant and accurate analysis and reporting of organization’s performance against historical, budgeted, forecasted and strategic plan figures.
  9. Integrates budget and multi-year planning inputs and assumptions into long range financial plan including development of sensitivities to baseline performance.
  10. Provides financial education to operations leaders and managers.
  11. Protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.

SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES*

Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.

 

Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
