JOB SUMMARY

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is recruiting for a Pediatric Endocrinologist to join the multi-disciplinary team in Atlanta, GA.

Join an established practice of 5 other Pediatric Endocrinologists, a Physician Assistant, 2 Nurse Practitioners, 3 Dietitians/Diabetic Educators, 1 Clinical Psychologist, a Research Coordinator, and 2 dedicated Growth Hormone nurses providing in house growth and other diagnostic testing. Practice staffing totals about 40. We provide Outpatient and Inpatient consultations for patients on the pediatric hospitalist service with the full support of our Pediatric Hospitalists and Intensivist Services Program.

The practice currently follows approximately 1800 diabetic patients, 800 patients on growth hormone, and a variety of other patients including Thyroid, Precocious Puberty, CAH, etc. The practice sees about 2000 new outpatient office referrals, with about 500 inpatient consultations per year. Outpatient office follow-up visits total approximately 10,000 – 12,000 per year. The practice also participates in several clinical research studies and provides medical education to residents and medical students.

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

CERTIFICATION SUMMARY

  • Board certified in Endocrinology Medicine and licensed to practice medicine in the state of Georgia
  • Current DEA registration
  • BLS certification is required
  • PALS or NRP certification

EXPERIENCE*

  • No minimum experience required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS*

  • Experience in respective clinical area

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*

  1. Provides patient care within the respective clinical area which complies with the Professional Staff Bylaws, rules and regulations and Children’s policies and procedures.
  2. Participates in and incorporates Quality Improvement and research findings into practice.
  3. Provides and/or serves as a resource for patient/family and staff education.
  4. Provides an authenticated report of all physician services rendered and maintains accurate and complete records in an acceptable manner.
  5. Completes necessary documentation and ensures communication to facilitate patient care and appropriate reimbursement.
  6. Participates in meetings/activities as required to support operations of the clinical area.
  7. Participates in activities that enhance professional development, complete and maintain certification in BLS, PALS, or NALS and maintains any additional specialty training/certifications as required by the area assigned.
  8. Performs other responsibilities as required.

SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES*

Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.

 

Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
