Provides strategic leadership and direct oversight of Social Work leaders and teams across Egleston, Scottish Rite, Hughes Spalding, CAP and Emergency Departments at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Drives alignment between all campuses amongst social worker team and stakeholders. Works in partnership with the Vice Presidents of Nursing and Hospital Operations, the Behavioral and Mental Health leaders, Case Management leaders and other key stakeholders to develop and operate a strategy and vision for social work. Implements plan for program development and manages overall business operations for medical, inpatient, emergency department and behavioral and mental health social work teams.


  1. Accountable for overall clinical operations management of social work services at Children’s
  2. Ensures adequate staffing to support clinical and business functions
  3. Manages overall financial performance and develops budget to plan with appropriate financial analysis
  4. Leads and supports social work teams through effective team building, open communication, and transparent dialogue
  5. Holds team accountable with timely performance feedback and coaching
  6. Develops a vision and strategic plan for social work care, management, and staffing by benchmarking with national peers, reviewing trends, and analyzing internal and external data
  7. Identifies organizational needs and barriers and makes recommendations to optimize patient care and social work practice
  8. Establishes and maintains effective collaborative working relationships with clinical leaders and providers related to social work care
  9. Provides oversight for development of evidence-based clinical practice standards and operating procedures
  10. Responsible for key operational decision making related to management of social work care across the campuses 
  11. Develops and implements programs and clinical services necessary to meet key behavioral and mental health needs of patients
  12. Monitors, evaluates, and implements clinical programs with a focus on quality improvement and patient safety 


  • Master’s Degree of Social Work 


  • Licensure as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Georgia


  • Minimum 5 years of management or leadership experience in a healthcare setting 
  • Demonstrated experience with accomplishments in social work administration and innovative practice delivery
  • High level of proficiency and skill in providing social work services in behavioral and mental health in the healthcare setting and comprehensive knowledge of community resources 
  • Experience across multiple care settings and patient populations including inpatient, Emergency Department, medical social work and behavioral and mental health. 


  • Pediatric healthcare experience 


  • Analytical ability to assess patient needs at a multi-system level and ability to develop and implement clinical practice standards 
  • Strong communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders
  • Comfort with ambiguity and skilled in change management 
  • Demonstrated sound business and financial acumen 
  • Excellent strategic planning and execution of plan
  • Strong business acumen and financial management 
  • Ability to effectively resolve conflict and lead teams through change 


Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system. 
Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
