JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Outpatient Therapy is responsible for strategic, operational, and financial leadership for our outpatient rehabilitation and sports medicine ambulatory operations. The Director ensures our operations meet the highest standard in quality and service delivery, and provide efficient patient throughput.

This leader monitors and improves operating budgets for all operations. The Director works to create a seamless experience for patients and families and facilitate collaboration among ambulatory operational partners. The Director also participates in senior level discussions regarding strategic and operational direction for the Ambulatory Service Line.

The Director leads a team of 300 outpatient rehabilitation professionals. This role reports to the Vice President, Ambulatory and Orthopaedic Services.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*

  1. Oversees day to day ambulatory operations for outpatient rehabilitation including clinical staffing, quality, customer service, patient throughput and operating budgets.
  2. Continually assesses and implements improvements for patient access and patient experience across the continuum of care.
  3. Directs analytics functions to ensure timely production of numerous reports to support daily operations and analysis to foster improvements.
  4. Continually assesses quality, productivity and efficiency of each operational area for use in achieving high quality, cost-effective operations. Actively seeks out and implements opportunities for additional gains in quality, revenue, and expense control.
  5. Develops and oversees the operational and capital budgets which accurately reflect the financial and operational needs. Manages financial resources to meet budget expectations.
  6. Actively works on employee engagement, develops employees and sets clear expectations in order to build a high performing team.
  7. Maintains open lines of communication and positive working relationships with staff, physicians and key system partners.
  8. Actively partners with VP Ambulatory and Orthopaedic Services on preparing for and presenting strategic/operational recommendations and updates.

EXPERIENCE*

  • Minimum of seven years business and clinical operations management, with strong financial and systems background, preferably in large/multi-site operations

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, health service field, health administration or related discipline.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multi-site and multi-specialty operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess, monitor and improve quality, patient throughput, service delivery and financials in a business and clinical operation.
  • Strong project management skills. Proven ability to develop project plans, provide regular updates to project sponsors, and adjust project direction as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability in leading high performing teams. Strong orientation to provide situational leadership, tailoring leadership approach based on the needs of the individual. Transparent and able to incorporate feedback into personal performance.
  • Demonstrated marketing, strategic thinking and problem solving ability.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in communication (written and spoken), presentation, and interpersonal skill, including a strong executive presence.
  • History of building and fostering trusting, sustainable relationships with key stakeholders. Able to collaborate and partner with clinical leaders, administrative partners, and system-wide leadership.
  • Strong financial management orientation. Proven ability to develop and manage a budget for service area.
  • Results orientation with ability to quickly assimilate data and communicate results.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex assignments with proven ability to assess competing priorities in a high energy, fast paced environment.
  • Practical in approach—has a natural orientation to getting things accomplished quickly in a high quality way and maximizes results with available resources.
  • Can effectively cope with change and easily shift gears. Willing to shift between strategy, design, and delivery. A track record of doing whatever is needed to get the job accomplished.
