Children's Healthcare of Atlanta has a rare opportunity and is hiring a Data Domain Architect to join our team.  The Data Domain Architect serves as subject matter expert with in-depth knowledge of a technology domain area of expertise.  Assists with the creation and execution of the information technology architecture roadmap for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta by designing strategies within a particular domain area.  Determines requirements and plans, implements, and tests systems. Identifies operational gaps and develops methods for improvement.  Provides guidance on standards, policies, and procedures. Mentors team members and provides leadership and guidance when assisting in problem resolution


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Sciences, Information Technology, related field, or equivalent experience



  • 7 years of experience with data engineering and architecting
  • Experience working with various database technology capabilities, tools, and design patterns
  • Hands-on experience with data architecting, data modeling, data integration, data governance, and business requirements gathering/analysis
  • Experience implementing enterprise data management processes and procedures



  • Experience with Master Data Management processes and governance 
  • Experience in an ITIL services framework
  • Experience in leadership in an information technology support organization


  • Demonstrated knowledge of generally known information technology platforms, standards, and software development language(s)
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication and analytical skills
  • Ability to create documentation that specifies strategy, assessment, or design in a way that delivers value and is understandable by any stakeholder
  • Ability to influence across all levels
  • Ability to speak technical language then transition to language of business managers
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively and productively with teams across organizational lines, including administrative/executive staff and patient care systems users
  • Must be able to function in a dynamic environment subject to impromptu changes in schedules and priorities
  • Strong knowledge of applicable legal and regulatory requirements, e.g., Payment Card Industry and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act
  • Auditing and event management

Additional Data Architect Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Experience designing and developing data, integration, and analytics capabilities and solutions.
  • Knowledge of enterprise repository tools, data modeling tools, data mapping tools, and data profiling tools.
  • Knowledge of various methods of storing, moving, and integrating data and the ability to recommend the appropriate solution for the requirement or problem.
  • Demonstrated expertise with repository creation and data life cycle methodologies to be able to lead data integration, data modeling, MDM workflows, etc.
  • Experience with Master Data Management processes and governance.
  • Knowledge of Data Loss Prevention (DLP) processes to ensure security of data assets.
  • Experience working with Hadoop/Big Data technologies.
  • Experience with cloud platforms and cloud computing.
  • Knowledge of modern API and near-real-time messaging systems.
  • Experience in developing detailed requirements for product evaluations and assigning levels of priority.
  • Ability to translate business needs into data architecture requirements.
  • Experience in estimating complexity of data solutions and estimation of effort.




  1. Participates in development and maintenance of enterprise architecture diagrams and documents, conducts business information flow studies, creates architectural and technology roadmaps, and documents technology standards.
  2. Provides design and product recommendations for technology capabilities needed across the enterprise and develops prototypes and proofs of concept to demonstrate them.
  3. Partners closely with other architects, program/project managers, infrastructure leaders, and application development teams to ensure a consistent approach to technology roadmap and information assets which process and store data.
  4. Works with developers and subject matter experts to establish technical standards for application architectures and technology, including web applications, mobile technology, cloud technology, and subscription services.
  5. Additional Domain Data Architect Job Responsibilities 
  6. Partners with technology teams to establish enterprise information architectures, strategies, and standards for data acquisition, quality, availability, security, integration, archival, recovery, and implementation of databases.
  7. Maintains the end-to-end vision and understanding of enterprise data assets including documentation of data flow diagrams, data models, and physical databases.
  8. Develops standards for naming, describing, governing, managing, modeling, storing, cleansing, transforming, accessing, delivering, and securing data to various internal, external, and SaaS Application Systems.
  9. Analyzes data attributes from multiple systems and develops a common data glossary.
  10. Maintains knowledge on current industry information and challenges for data storage, integration, security, BI, and analytics.



Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.


Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
