Credentials Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY

Supports Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Credentialing Services department as relates to the credentialing and privileging of medical staff and allied health professionals. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

EDUCATION

  • Graduate from an accredited degree program (relevant experience may be considered)

CERTIFICATION SUMMARY

  • Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) within 2 years of eligibility

EXPERIENCE*

  • 3 years of experience in hospital or managed care credentialing

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS*

  • Degree program in business or health-related field
  • Working knowledge of AppCentral and Cactus Software

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES*

  • Knowledge of Joint Commission and National Committee for Quality Assurance credentialing standards and demonstration of continued professional development in these areas
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*

  1. Credentials and recredentials physicians and allied health professionals in compliance with Joint Commission and National Committee for Quality Assurance standards.
  2. Provides support to Credentialing Services, Medical Staff Services, and professional staff leaders as relates to the credentialing and privileging processes.
  3. Provides expertise and information concerning credentialing and recredentialing theory, practices, and policies to both internal and external contacts.
  4. Participates in the achievement of organizational and departmental performance goals.
  5. Works as scheduled and for the amount of time necessary to accomplish job duties and responsibilities efficiently and professionally.
  6. May be required to work more hours than normal in order to complete projects/tasks.
  7. Attends at minimum one evening Credentials Committee meeting annually.

SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES*

Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.

 

Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
