Child Advocacy Marketing Intern (Summer 2021)

JOB SUMMARY

Children’s is committed to improving child health and wellness through awareness, prevention and education efforts in our community through a defined Child Advocacy strategy with four pillars: obesity prevention, behavioral health prevention, injury & illness prevention and child protection. Armed with a team of Children’s physicians, registered dietitians and other wellness experts, we focus on three key strategies: equipping parents with the resources they need at home, training healthcare providers and working with schools and communities to support kids where they learn and play.

Our Child Advocacy team recognizes that raising a child is the hardest job there is, but we aim to make it easier to find the tips and advice parents need from trusted experts they can count on.

 

In 2021, Child Advocacy’s strategic priorities aimed to:

Expand obesity prevention to include renewed focus on physical activity for all ages. Continue to strengthen obesity prevention in the early care setting.

Expand prevention program in schools, ECE and provider offices. Launch pilot program in community setting. Launch first year of resiliency campaign.

Execute three illness/injury campaigns - water safety, safe sleep and motor vehicle safety.

• Support child protection efforts with an emphasis on child abuse prevention.

EDUCATION

 

 

College or graduate student that is currently working towards a Bachelor or Master degree in Journalism, Communications, Business, Marketing, Healthcare Administration or other related field, required.

CERTIFICATION SUMMARY

EXPERIENCE*

  • Graphic design skills preferred but not required
  • Experience with InDesign and Publisher preferred but not required

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*

The Child Advocacy Intern will gain experience with all pieces of our strategic priorities and not simply be in a supportive role. The Intern will be given the opportunity to lead various workstreams with research, planning and execution.

 

Spring and Summer are heavy times for Child Advocacy. We have demanding content needs, numerous events (whether in person or virtual), and a variety of campaigns launching between the May and August timeframe. A snapshot of responsibilities during this time includes:

  • Camp Strong4Life 
  • Back to School
  • Wellness Fairs
  • Water Safety Campaign
  • Behavioral Health Campaign

SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES*

Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.

 

Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
