Business Process Specialist .5FTE

Work Schedule/Days:  Day / Monday - Friday

JOB SUMMARY

The Business Process Specialist proactively identifies and tests control processes that ensure departmental compliance with internal policies, as well as appropriate regulatory requirements and guidelines.  Documents current processes and makes recommendations for process improvements.  Implements approved changes individually or with a project team and routinely provides written and verbal feedback to assigned leadership team.Performs audits or manages audits conducted by third parties in the area of responsonsibility.  This team ensures that we are in compliance throughout the system with all regulatory agencies.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Policy, Economics, Communications, Statistics, Technology, or related field

EXPERIENCE*

  • 5 years of experience in modeling complex business processes and requirements and integrating with data and system architectural models and requirements
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS*

  • 10+ years of experience in a similar capacity within a hospital setting
  • Public accounting experience, preferably with Big 4 accounting firms
  • 2-3 years of prior management experience in working with external vendors in an audit setting
  • Post-graduate degree
  • Certification in area of specialty such as CPA, PMP, CISA
  • Knowledge of key ERP and revenue cycle applications such as EPIC Resolute and/or ADT, Lawson and IDX
  • Experience in project management
  • Knowledge of key revenue cycle applications (e.g., EPIC, SMS, Xactimed,  IDX)

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES*

  • Must be organized and excellent at written and verbal communications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Visio, and PowerPoint, particularly with preparing, conducting, and presenting financial control assessments, tests, and documentation activities
  • Demonstrated proficiency in analytical, statistical, reporting, and business intelligence tools

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*

  1. Collaborates with assigned area’s department leaders and others in the planning, development, and implementation of business processes that impact financial and operational controls.
  2. Reviews and documents current processes.
  3. Audits processes within assigned areas to determine risks and opportunities for improvements.
  4. Collects, organizes, and interprets data for presentation to leadership.
  5. Recommends and makes approved changes, and provides training and documentation, including policies, when appropriate.
  6. Provides periodic audits to ensure compliance and to identify any additional risks or opportunities.

SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES*

Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.

 

Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
