JOB SUMMARY

Manages all facets of employee benefits, including planning, organization, implementation, administration, compliance, and communication. Ensures that benefits plans are competitive, cost-effective, and support the needs of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta employees and their families.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business Administration, or Human Resource Management

CERTIFICATION SUMMARY

EXPERIENCE*

  • 5 years of experience in benefits with 2 years of experience in a management role
  • 2 years of experience managing a shared services operations center
  • Clear understanding of and practical experience with ERISA, COBRA, PPA, ACA, and other federal and state regulations governing employee benefits

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS*

  • CEBS designation
  • Lawson HRIS

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES*

  • Demonstrated knowledge of employee benefits plans, administration, and compliance
  • Strong functional knowledge and understanding of HRIS

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*

  1. Manages daily administration and compliance for all employee benefits plans, including health and welfare, income protection, leave management, retirement, workers’ compensation, and Affordable Care Act.
  2. Manages education, training, and operations of the Human Resources Shared Services Center.
  3. Evaluates, budgets, and continuously monitors employee benefits programs to ensure a meaningful and competitive benefits package.
  4. Manages staff, including Senior Benefits Analyst, Benefits Analyst, FMLA and Workers’ Compensation Coordinator, and Human Resources Service Center Representatives.
  5. Manages annual open enrollment process, ensuring an easy, accurate, and timely outcome.
  6. Manages vendor and broker relationships.
  7. Serves on Retirement Committee.
  8. Partners with Human Resources on benefits issues related to acquisitions.
  9. Responsible for all aspects of managing and leading a team including: interviewing, hiring, training, developing, directing work and processes, managing performance, recognizing, and rewarding employees.
  10. Mentor team members to encourage personal and professional growth.
  11. Encourage ongoing skill development by providing opportunities for continued education.

SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES*

Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.

 

Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
