Biomedical Network Analyst

JOB SUMMARY

Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is hiring a Biomedical Network Analyst to join our permanent team!  The biomedical Network analyst provides technical support to the Clinical Engineering department regarding medical equipment and any corresponding IS&T needs. The main focus of this role will be helping to establish the medical device security framework at Children’s from the clinical operations perspective. Job duties include supporting the technical aspects of Clinical Engineering’s new equipment and software upgrades and is to be the liaison with IS&T resources on such projects. The biomedical analyst also provides both technical and reporting guidance and support to team members as it relates to systems used for RFID tracking and work order processing.  Additionally, he/she partners with the IS&T security team on the collection and reporting of designated metrics and ensures that all identified medical devices are monitored for patching status, vulnerabilities, and anti-virus operation.  This person must be willing to travel to all Children's facilities as-needed.

EDUCATION

  • Associate's degree in biomedical electronics, computer science, information systems, or related field required

CERTIFICATION SUMMARY

  • No professional certifications required.

EXPERIENCE*

  • Minimum of three to five years of biomedical electronics experience required
  • Experience in device vulnerability management required
  • Experience working with medical device security required
  • Experience in developing and maintaining policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS*

  • Certified Network+ Network Security
  • Strong knowledge and experience of applicable frameworks and regulatory requirements, e.g., Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, ISO 2700x, National Institute of Standards and Technology, Health Information Trust Alliance, Joint Commission, and privacy law
  • Three years of experience in a healthcare setting

  • Demonstrated knowledge of generally adopted information technology platforms and standards
  • Demonstrated capability to learn and adapt to new situations and requirements in a dynamic environment

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*

  1. Evaluates new equipment (both hardware and disposables) and new technology from a design, modification, and usage perspective.
  2. As part of a Vendor Quality Assurance effort, evaluates vendor competencies and examines product history as it relates to hardware and software.
  3. Assists in developing and implementing consistent policies and procedures which guide and support the goals and objectives of the department as it relates to information security.
  4. Advises and participates in “ad hoc” committees on medical equipment issues, as assigned.
  5. Coordinates all hardware and software upgrades.
  6. Leads the system projects and acts as the main point of contact for CE, clinical, and IS&T.
  7. Equipment Management:
    1. Maintains IT technical fields in existing device management platform.
    2. Updates the operational security status of equipment in existing management platform.
    3. Monitors and communicates compliance with specifications, codes, and hospital standards.

SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES*

Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.

 

Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
