BI DEVELOPER TEAM LEAD

JOB SUMMARY

Coordinates developer activities, including report development, troubleshooting, and performance tuning. Takes responsibility for technical guidelines and best practices.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, related field, or equivalent technical training and experience

CERTIFICATION SUMMARY

  • No professional certifications required

EXPERIENCE*

  • 5 years of experience with developing in business intelligence reporting software such as SQL Server Reporting Services, Crystal Reports, Business Objects, Cognos
  • Experience in SQL and Visual Basic programming languages

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS*

  • 5 years of experience in a healthcare data modeling, analytics, or report development role
  • 5 years of experience in QlikView

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES*

  • Ability to translate  business questions and requirements into reports, views, and business intelligence query objects
  • Proficient in SQL and relational and multidimensional designs
  • Understanding of information systems, data modeling, business intelligence, and relational database design and knowledge of how to access multiple information sources for analytical purposes
  • High capacity for data analysis, data modeling, computer programming, problem-solving, sound judgment, accuracy, and attention to detail

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*

  1. Develops comprehensive business intelligence strategy, objectives, vision, and measures based on reports programmed and business needs.
  2. Coordinates with various business and technical groups whose support is needed to build or deploy business intelligence/data warehouse projects.
  3. Facilitates prioritization of projects among competing business interests.
  4. Provides data strategy mapping and applies best practices to data visualization projects.  
  5. Provides facilitation and consultation in areas where expertise and firsthand knowledge can be beneficial.
  6. Develops and maintains good working relationships with teams across organizational lines.
  7. Develops quality measures to assess overall success of development team and provides reports to management.
  8. Reviews and validates work performed by other developers and coaches for improvement.
  9. Troubleshoots code and performs systems analysis to determine best business intelligence solution, e.g., reports, dashboards, scorecards, data cubes.
  10. Monitors and addresses data quality issues and communicates as appropriate.
  11. Supervises execution of team goals and initiatives, keeping management apprised of progress.
  12. Delegates and supervises performance ad hoc data analysis and reporting as requested.
  13. Prepares formal feedback to evaluate personal and staff performance, creates personal goals, and assists with creation of team goals.
  14. Mentors and coaches other team members.
  15. Assigns day-to-day duties and ensures timely completion of tasks performed by designated staff.
  16. Assist Supervisor and/or Manager with development of staff by: being available to teammates, acting as a resource to help complete complicated/complex tasks, providing on the job training to team, and seeking out opportunities to become actively involved in staff workflow and development.
  17. Provide Supervisor and/or Manager feedback on staff performance, educational needs, and workflow status.

SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES*

Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.

 

Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
