JOB SUMMARY

To facilitate and manage the day to day operations of the department including fiscal and human resources processes.  To support and ensure that comprehensive patient care services are being provided that support the integrity of the family system and patient care team.  To proactively support the efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and to promote a safe environment at Children's.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current license in the State of Georgia as a registered nurse
  • Degree from school of nursing Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • Certification in related specialty within one year of hire
  • Children’s Supervisor Certification preferred within two years of hire
  • At least one year of resource level or management/administrative experience in a healthcare setting preferred.     
  • Must possess excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills.

  • Must be able to successfully pass the Basic Windows Skills Assessment at 80% or higher rating within 30 days of date of hire.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinical Behaviors

While clinical staff may serve a specific patient population, they have the potential to care  for  patients within the age population range served at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Clinical staff will have competencies that will incorporate population specific guidelines.  This age population includes:

      N = Neonate (less than 30 days)

      I = Infant (30 days to 1 year)

      EC = Early Childhood (1-5 years)

      LC = Late Childhood (5-13 years)

      A = Adolescent (13-17 years)

      AD = Adult

      ALL - all ages

Collaborates and consults with interdisciplinary team regarding clinical outcomes.

Coaches others in clinical decision making and problem solving.

Provides bedside care/support at least 8 hours per month.

Maintains current clinical skills and competencies including electronic medical record.

Provides oversight of patient care delivered by Licensed Practical Nurses on the unit.

Understands the CAN program and educates staff

Working with the manager, facilitates the development and implementation of the departmental PI plans and measurements.

With unit leadership, coordinates oversight of The Joint Commission (TJC) readiness

Oversight for departmental quality controls

Participates in the creation of staffing effectiveness monitors

Provides follow-up to ONS reports

Participates in departmental assessment of national recognition data collection processes.
