Applications Developer

JOB SUMMARY

Performs application development following industry best practices. Produces solutions by working closely with business users throughout all phases of the software development lifecycle. Works both collaboratively and independently among a team of other developers in the areas of requirements gathering, learning industry and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta best practices, solution architecture, and software development methodology.

EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, related field, or equivalent technical training and experience

  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively and productively with teams across organizational lines, including administrative/executive staff and patient care systems users
  • Ability to perform job duties independently with minimal supervision
  • High capacity for data analysis, data modeling, computer programming, problem-solving, sound judgment, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Current knowledge of industry-accepted best practices and trends as applicable
  • Knowledge and application of appropriate programming languages (e.g., C#, ASP, ASP.NET) and software development methodologies
  • Expertise in working with internet and intranet, data repository, automation applications, and web interfaces as appropriate to assigned development
  • Expertise in working with SharePoint, InfoPath, and Web Parts (if applicable, e.g., for SharePoint developer)
  • Must have an understanding of information systems, data modeling, business intelligence, and relational database design and knowledge of how to access multiple information sources
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*
  1. Develops, maintains, and supports code/systems in support of business needs.
  2. Monitors and addresses data quality issues.
  3. Clarifies and resolves requirements questions.
  4. Follows technical guidelines and best practices to ensure a consistently high standard of quality.
  5. Resolves recurring technical problems.
  6. Makes recommendations for next steps and long-term improvements.
  7. Resolves defects or deficiencies with completed development, updates documentation, and provides training to support team members on completed development as necessary.
  8. Provides technical support for applications analyst as needed.
SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES*

Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.

 

Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
