JOB SUMMARY

Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is hiring an Applications Technology Consultant  to join our permanent team! The Applications Technology Consultant actively partners across IS&T departments to ensure the successful implementation and lifespan of business applications.  This role is experienced in the full spectrum of technologies with an emphasis on server operating systems, data flow, and security principles while understanding the application layer that sits on top of them.  The role is actively involved in ensuring all technology layers are considered during an application’s lifecycle while driving others to keep software current and secure.  The Applications Technology Consultant mentors others to help bring up skillset and awareness within the department.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent technical training and experience
     

CERTIFICATION SUMMARY

  •     None required

EXPERIENCE*

  • 10 years of technical experience
  • 5 years supporting a large Windows Server OS environment
  • Experience with virtualization
  • Demonstrated knowledge of vulnerability management and patching
  • Service Now and ITIL principles

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS*

  • Masters degree in computer science 
  • Healthcare industry knowledge
  • Microsoft OS certifications
  • Certification in one or more of the following:  
    • MCSA
    • MCSE
    • CCNP

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES*

  • Understanding of the full technology stack, from application to database to operating system to hardware
  • Broad knowledge of applications including those of the healthcare industry and generalized business software packages
  • Well versed in data flow, TCP/IP, network, and security fundamentals
  • Demonstrated experience with change management
  • Experience in managing the downstream impact of changes any layer of the technology stack in a highly integrated environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Well-developed and proven organizational, problem-solving, analytical, and time management skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships inside the department and across the organization

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*

  1. Acts as liaison between infrastructure, security, solution architect, and applications analyst teams
  2. Ensures successful application evolution in partnership with the above teams
  3. Ensures all partners are following the same policy and procedure playbooks
  4. Provides technology consulting within the IS&T department
  5. Assists and/or coordinates application, database, and OS upgrades and patching amongst the responsible teams
  6. Adds a voice of technology acumen to vendor involved communications
  7. Assists technical teams with compliance enforcement
  8. Partners with departmental stakeholders on new technology implementations
  9. Assists in orientation of new team members and serves as resource for new employees and other staff members. 
  10. Other duties as required

SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES*

Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system. 


Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
