Pediatric Surgeon

JOB SUMMARY

Performing more than 40,000 operations a year, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is home to one of the leading pediatric surgery practices in the country.  In order to meet the needs of a growing pediatric community, Children’s Healthcare is seeking a full-time, board certified/board eligible pediatric surgeon to join the team at our Scottish Rite campus.  The incoming surgeon will also partner with the Pediatric Surgery practice at our Egleston location to ensure all patient care needs are met.

In this position, you will provide comprehensive care to children with conditions requiring surgical intervention, as well as support and education to the parents and families of our patients.  You will be joining a team of pediatric surgeons with diverse interests and strengths who share a common goal of treating children with various surgical needs.  Candidates must have completed a post-graduate residency in pediatric surgery, and must be licensed, or eligible for licensure, to perform pediatric surgery in the state of Georgia.

EDUCATION
  • Completion of post-graduate residency training program in Pediatric Surgery accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education
CERTIFICATION SUMMARY
  • Board certified in General Surgery or certification in General Surgery within three (3) years of completion of training and certification of sub-specialty within five (5) years of training
  • Licensed to practice medicine in the state of Georgia
  • Current DEA registration
  • BLS certification required. PALS certification
EXPERIENCE*
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in clinical specialty
  • Administrative or leadership experience

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*
  1. Provides patient care within the Surgical Services, which complies with the Professional Staff Bylaws, rules and regulations and Children’s policies and procedures.
  2. Participates in and incorporates Quality Improvement and research findings into practice.
  3. Provides and/or serves as a resource for patient/family and staff education.
  4. Provides an authenticated report of all physician services rendered and maintains accurate and complete records in an acceptable manner.
  5. Completes necessary documentation and ensures communication to facilitate patent care and appropriate reimbursement.
  6. Participates in meetings/activities as required to support operations of the clinical area.
  7. Participates in activities that enhance professional development, complete and maintain certification in BLS and maintains any additional specialty training/certifications as required by the area assigned.
  8. Performs other responsibilities as required.
SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES*

Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.

 

Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
